Therapy as a threshold moment

WELCOME

Something brought you here. Maybe it's an exhaustion that sleep doesn't touch, or success that doesn't feel fulfilling. Perhaps you have a strange, lingering sense of watching your life from a distance. Maybe you've been to therapy before. You understand your patterns, you have serious insight, but you still feel that stubborn stress locked in your body: a clenched jaw, a racing heart at 3am, bracing for something terrible that never actually happens.

That's not a failure of willpower, and it's not a failure of the therapy you've done. It's simply how the nervous system works: You can't think your way out of a body that still believes it isn't safe.

Healing happens in the body and in the experience of secure relationships. My approach is grounded in Somatic Experiencing, with attachment theory and Internal Family Systems-informed parts work woven in. Our work together is adapted to what you personally need, at a pace your nervous system can handle.

Whatever you're carrying, there is a way through. My commitment is to walk alongside you in that crossing.

Experience with the toughest terrain

I've spent eight years treating severe and complex trauma, including four years inside the New Jersey prison system, working with people carrying the heaviest histories imaginable. I'm a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), with additional depth in dissociation, childhood abuse, and the long shadow of early adversity.

Why does this matter for you? Because people bring one of two fears to trauma therapy: "my story is too much" or "it wasn't bad enough to count." Neither is true. Your nervous system doesn't rank suffering; it responds to being overwhelmed, regardless of the origin story. There is nothing you carry that I haven't sat with before, and nothing too small to deserve care. You don't need to protect me from your story, you don’t need to justify your pain, and you don't need to relive your memories in session for the work to work.

How I can help

Trauma-Focused Therapy

Trauma therapy at Threshold is grounded in Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-oriented approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine that works with the nervous system rather than requiring detailed verbal recounting of traumatic events.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision with me is relational, reflective, and honest. I take seriously both the technical dimensions of developing as a clinician and the deeper questions of professional identity, values, and sustainable practice.

Understanding Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma developed by Dr. Peter Levine. SE works gently with the body's natural capacity to process, complete, and ultimately release survival responses that got stuck. These might include flight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses, in all their nuance and complexity.

SE is particularly effective for people who have tried talk therapy and found that words don't quite reach the part that's hurting. For example, you might still notice a clenching in your stomach, near constant hypervigilance, or the feeling of being not-quite-present in your own life, in spite of completing years of cognitively focused therapy.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), I bring a body-based, nervous system focused approach to every aspect of my work.
